I even moved/deleted the minor app updates that I had installed around the time the crashes happened if they might be the causes of the conflict. When this issue began, I ran Disk Utilities locally as well as after a CMD + R restart. (I do play some games here & there, like Starcraft but have not had any issues related to that any pro upgrades or installs that I know of.) I keep my Mac Book pretty clean and don't install a lot of non-professional software on it. I use a Logitech wireless keyboard & mouse (which interfaces from their USB dongle.) I also use an Apple Trackpad. Processor 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Upon that re-start-up, the OS asks if I wish to open the previously open apps (to which I usually say no.) I am not 100% sure, but I think the USB/FW800/eSATA ports might also go dead as well. The tell is that I notice the mouse not moving and all functionality ceases and the time halts in the upper bar as well. Specifically, the desktop image in my monitors just freezes (I use two monitors.) The only thing to do when this happens is to power off the unit (holding the power button for 7 sec.) In the last week, my beloved 2009 Mac Pro has suddenly started to halt/freeze/crash, sometimes when no application or function is running.
